Donations and Appeal

The Glacier Trust is a UK registered charity, (Number 1124955) and relies almost entirely on private donations to fund projects.

We urgently need support for two of our projects at the moment. These are:

Community self-help adaptation for climate change
Forest conservation and improved cooking stoves

Donations to The Glacier Trust will be apportioned between our projects at the trustees’ discretion. If however you your want your donation to go to one specific project, please tell us and we will treat it as restricted funds. However restricted funds management adds to time and administrative costs so we would ask that these only be applied to larger donations.

How much of your donation goes on admin?
ZERO! The Glacier Trust is managed on a voluntary basis by its five trustees. All our first three years' expenses were covered by a founder’s grant, as this is being extended for the fourth year. This ensures that 100% of your donation hits the target.

Circumventing Corruption
Worries about the corrupt siphoning of funds can be a serious deterrent to charitable giving. In our case, all the projects we support are researched and vetted by the director by field trips to the project areas. We only work with established NGOs who have a proven track record. With our relatively small scale projects we believe it is possible to verify both the amounts of money needed and to log its expenditure accurately. It’s simply a matter of doing the donkey work to ensure penny pinching accountability.

If you are a UK tax payer, you can print off the Gift Aid form to enable us to claim back the tax on your donation.

2) You can also donate on line:
If you wish to donate on line, please click on the Virgin Money button in the side bar. This link will take you to a Virgin Money Giving website to enable you to choose either a one off donation or a monthly donation to us. It will enable us to reclaim tax paid by UK tax payers, but is open to all donors world wide. If you do decided to donate on-line, could we PLEASE ask you to let us know by using the Contact Us page on the website? This will enable us to make sure your gift arrives safely and is acknowledged.
3) A third alternative is to transfer money bank to bank. Please Contact Usand we will send you bank details.

Donations from the United States
If you are donating form the UNITED STATES you can obtain a tax deduction by donating via the American Fund for Charities (AFC), who will send you the correct tax deductible receipt. The donation will have to be made in favour of The AFC and not the Glacier Trust. Please kindly download and complete the AFC form and send it with your donation to The Glacier Trust, North Wing, Roundway House Devizes, SN10 2EG United Kingdom. It would be helpful if you could let us know via the Contact Us page so that we can keep track of the donation and acknowledge it when it arrives.

Donations from outside the UK and USA
