Solukhumbu-Grown Beans to be Roasted in the UK

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with Happy Barista, a County Durham based coffee roaster, specialising in ethically sourced, small batch coffee, which will now include coffee grown by our project farmers in Solukhumbu! They will be the first roaster in the country to roast beans from this region of Nepal.

Owner and Roaster Tom Bolland has been a close follower of our work with coffee growers in Nepal, test roasting beans from both Solukhumbu and Nawalparasi. Tom has been very impressed with the quality of the green beans grown, which is real success and bodes well for future harvests.

Tom will shortly be receiving 100kg of Solukhumbu beans that will then be roasted and sold.  A percentage of each sale will be donated to The Glacier Trust and routed back to the projects supporting these farmers, including the development of the coffee roastery in Mukli.

Follow the story of the beans on our social media channels and you can visit Tom’s website at www.happybarista.com
